Key West Fishing 03-12-16
We've finally broken out from under this stretch of unusually cold weather - there should be some beautiful fishing weather this spring. Our charter Captains, Tony Miller of the Coolwater, Bill Wallace of the Outcast, and Damon Santelli of the Coolcast, guided some fruitful excursions lately. Tony took parties out to the Gulf Stream color change on Thursday as well as Friday. Thursday, his clients hooked 3 Sailfish. Today, they hooked 2 of these fighting game-fish. Bill took folks out to fish the rock-piles on bottom today, where the anglers hauled in plenty of Lane Snappers and some Cobia. They also brought in their limit of Mangrove Snappers. Today, Damon took his party out to the reef to bag their limit of Yellowtail Snappers. He then headed out to the color change to bring in a bunch of 7 to 9 pound Dorado.
Over the weekend, since the Gulf Stream and the wind will be moving in the same direction (eastward), the fishing lines should stay straight out from the boat, creating great conditions for fishing on the reef.
If you love to fish for Tarpon, there's good news; our captains have reported that these feisty fish have been active in the northwest channel as well as the Harbor of Key West. Tarpon season usually lasts through August.
Good anglin',
Captain Chris Garcia
