Key West Fishing 03-16-16

Along with the arrival of the springtime weather in Key West, the angling has also begun to heat up. We saw ample evidence in this hot fishing on the Coolcast recently. This past weekend, we visited both the reef in addition to the deeper water of the color change on a combo charter. The Yellowtail Snapper were especially active - our charter took their limit. They also brought in some King Mackerel, with the jumbo weighing thirty-two lbs. Offshore, where the Gulf Stream sweeps close to the Keys at a depth of 160', my anglers nabbed a seventeen lb. Tuna in addition to two Sailfish at once - one on the kite and another on the flat-line. They were biting on live Blue Runners.

Since springtime is finally here, the excellent Tarpon season has started in Key West, Florida. We ventured into Key West Harbor to snag some of these great game-fish today. These feisty fish did not disappoint. Our party hooked eight Tarpon on cut bait, bringing in six fish, including a big daddy weighing over one hundred and fifty lbs. Join us down in the Keys for a chance to mount one of these behemoths on your wall.

We look forward to seeing you in Key West,

Captain Damon Santelli
